Meet Artist David Peche

David Peche is a San Antonio-based artist and illustrator with over 35 years of experience. He begins every piece with a hand drawing, then carefully vectors it in Adobe Illustrator until every line feels perfect.

When a design truly resonates with him, he develops it further into an original painting. From that point, Angel takes the lead on product development, working side by side with David to turn the artwork into prints, hats, jewelry, coloring books, decals, and more — all produced in-house in our San Antonio studio.

A Life Surrounded by Art

Born in San Antonio to a commercial artist father, David was immersed in art from a young age. He served with pride in the U.S. Army’s elite 10th Mountain Division, an experience that still shapes his disciplined approach and appreciation for grit and perseverance.

After his service, David built a successful career in technical and medical illustration. These years sharpened his precision and attention to detail — skills that continue to define his work today.

Building an Artist Community

For 11 years, David and Angel ran “Art at the Jalapeno,” a unique and inclusive artist community in San Antonio. They hosted group events and shows featuring live painters, live music, live body painting, free admission, and no commissions, with Blue Moon beer as sponsor.

The events were juried based on the quality of the art rather than the artist’s reputation, welcoming over 500 local artists of all levels and styles. It became a warm, family-friendly space that helped build a real sense of community.

Today in the Studio

Today, David and Angel continue to create together at DJ Illustrator Studio in San Antonio. Every piece that leaves the studio reflects their shared commitment to quality, originality, and the bold, fearless spirit of the city they love. From the initial hand drawing to the final product, they personally handle every step with care and attention to detail.

No mass-produced imports — just authentic, handmade art created with heart in their Texas studio.
