Dead Samurai is one of David Peche's most striking recent works, completed in December 2025. Set against a warm cream background — marked by the scattered crimson of enemies long defeated — the composition centers on a samurai helmet and mask rendered entirely in David's signature geometric style. A mosaic of sharp, interlocking shapes that together form something ancient and deeply unsettling.

The face is a mask of pure aggression. Red and yellow eyes burn from within the geometric planes, snarling with a ferocity that feels less like art and more like a warning. Deep, brooding blues anchor the darker recesses of the helmet and face, while rich reds dominate the composition — saturated, commanding, the color of both honor and bloodshed. Yellow accents cut through like flashes of firelight, giving the piece a smoldering intensity that holds the eye.

The samurai head sits directly upon a bold red circle — a rising sun, its edges rolling outward in soft, undulating waves of heat and fire, the way the actual sun bleeds light into the sky at the edge of the world. It is both symbol and stage, grounding the warrior in something mythic and timeless.

At the bottom right, Japanese characters for "samurai" appear in a weathered, jagged stamp — ink aged and worn, as if pressed by a hand long gone. It is the final signature on a piece that speaks across centuries.
