Space Girl is part of David Peche's ongoing Space Girl series — a body of work that explores identity, perception, and the layered complexity of the feminine form through surreal, multi-dimensional portraiture. In this piece, multiple faces merge into a single composition, each oriented in a different direction, their chins fanning outward like the petals of a flower. It is at once a portrait and a bloom — a living mandala of faces that draws the eye inward toward its center.

That center face is the anchor of the piece. Its eyes are direct, piercing, and impossible to look away from — a gaze that seems to reach right through the surface of the print and find you on the other side. Surrounding it, the other faces recede and overlap in a cascade of transparency, their features blending seamlessly through layers of yellows, blues, and deep purples, with subtle accent colors woven throughout. The white background gives the composition room to breathe, allowing the luminous color palette to glow with quiet intensity.

The layering technique David employs here is a hallmark of his surreal work — colors and forms that don't simply sit beside each other, but pass through one another, creating depth that rewards a slow, close look. The longer you spend with Space Girl, the more she reveals.
